I have an STCd system in my 185. The floscan transducer is screwed directly to the flow divider on top of the engine and the flexible fuel line is connected to a 90* fitting on the transducer. This seems contradictory to all of the above discussion yet it has been operating flawlessly for 30 years. It is in accordance with the approved instructions.
Interesting, without removing the cowl and actually measuring, I think that if you were to measure from the 90* bend through the flowscan into the flow divider that your numbers are about right. The dimensions which you mention are about the same as the fittings.Obviously the approved instructions would take fulid mechanics into account. The rule of thumb I listed gives a dimension in line diameters so in a 1/4 id fuel line that is 3/4" up and 1.5" downstream from the sensing chamber.
