Sitting around here staring at this confuser and watching the snow fall when I had a brain fart. What has happened with the Super 18? Haven't heard anything about it since I looked at it while at Oshkosh. Anything new?
Last I heard there were issues with the fuselage and some changes needed to be made to please the FAA. Instead of cutting/replacing/welding, they just built a new fuselage instead to replace the old one and will then be able to move forward with certification.
I don't believe the fuselage swap has taken place yet.
The last I heard, the fuselage has passed the testing phase. If it is in SD now, it has not yet been covered and/or swapped out yet. After that is done, they will still have to complete the flight test, and noise test. As with anything of this magnitude, it takes about as long for paperwork as it does for the actual testing phases. I'm anxious to see what happens too.
