I am looking a buying a 1950 Super Cub on wheels and put it on floats. The G.W. now is 1750# With Edo 2000 floats does the G.W. increase?

What is the exchange weight for removing the wheels and putting on the Edo 2000's? It has 26" tires and 3" extended gear.

Any hints on what to look out for?

Thanks,

Dan

Wght with floats

Yes, if you don't have an STC for the gross wgt increase, standard gross on a PA18/150 is 1750 on wheel gear and 1760 with the floats installed. And you deduct the wght of the wheel gear and add the weight of the float gear (approx. 263 lbs for the EDO 2000s)

Do a Google search of the following: AIRCRAFT SPECIFICATION NO. 1A2. Then click on the first item that appears - the title for it will list a bunch of page numbers. That document is the Type Certificate Data Sheet for the Super Cub. It will give you the weight and balance information for the various Super Cubs as they left the factory. SCs built in 1950 had a gross weight of 1500 lb in the standard category on wheels. The plane you are looking at might have had a gross weight STC upgrade to 1750 lb or even 2000 lb. You will need to look at the aircraft records to figure that out.
Good Luck, Darrel
