Nimpo Lake, BC . . . AKA "the Floatplane Capital o
One of our most cherished Chilcotin characters has gone west @ only 70-something. He flew all kinds of aircraft, mostly on floats around here, to the tune of almost 30K hrs. Helicopters, Commercial, 135, & toys right down to chainsaw bombers.
His airplane didn't get him, it was the damn Harley. Apparently riding (w/his Daughter) up an on-ramp & the sun hit him & went off the road. Bike landed on him & wasn't damaged, but he got broken ribs & vertebrae & never really came out of it.
There'll be a gathering (celebration of life) @ the Nimpo hall if anyone is interested. Nov 6th @ 1PM. He was mostly a quiet & modest guy, until he got a couple strong scotches in him, then he had more & better stories than anyone. He could make any story funny. He was always there if'n you needed a hand.
He'll be missed & loved forever.
