The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

“I am convinced that human flight is both possible and practical.”
Wilbur Wright, 1899

About the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award
The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award recognizes the efforts of pilots who have followed and continue to follow the precaution and awareness of safe operations. Most of all, FAA recognizes pilots who have contributed and maintained safe flight operations for 50 or more consecutive years of piloting aircraft.

The award recipient will receive a certificate and lapel pin.

The FAA Administrator will sign the award certificate.
A smaller version of the pin will be awarded to the spouse, if appropriate.

Wright award

We have an award holder here in Idaho. Dick Waite of Hagerman. He currently flies a Travelair 6000, 185, Super Cub, and J3. One hell of a guy, and you're right--he's got great stories!

We have a double award winner in North Texas. Rich Worstell has both the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award and the Charles E. Taylor Master Mechanic Award for more than 50 years as both a Pilot and A&P/A&E.

If anyone knows a Pilot or an A&P who might be eligible, you might offer to help them apply. The paperwork is not too difficult to complete. Sometimes a little encouragement is all that it takes. And what a legacy to leave to family and friends..

A good friend of mine has the Charles Taylor award and with 30,000 hours I know would qualify for the master pilot award I'll tell him about it.
