HOWDY,
We outfitted our PA-18 with F. Atlee Dodge's 30.5 tanks. Just wondering if anyone has re-installed their original 18-gallon tanks outboard of the 30.5 tanks?

OBOY! 61 gal +36= 97gal x6 =582 lbs 97x12= 1,164 miles!
Add a belly tank.....97 +32=129galx6=774 lbs 129x12=1548 miles!
If you can take off.....and if you can stay in a seat that long without screaming...129 gal x hr/8gal=16.1 hrs....I'm an old fart with arthritis...only good for three hours or so between screams.... upgrade your seat, while you're at it... I wonder if max landing weight would be a factor? I.E...the cub doesn't have one now, but might after a mod like this.....

I've only seen one PA18 with Atlee's 30.5 gal. tanks and the original 18 gal. mounted outboard. He was a Fish spotter and his aircraft was in the RESTRICTED catergory. Which meant he could only fly it when he was fish spotting or going to and from. When he retired from fish spotting, I rebuilt the 18 and took the 18 gal. tanks out.
