Several folks have revealed they can’t see images in posts. So far, this has all been on older Mac computers with OS Catalina.

If you are having trouble seeing pictures please let me know what operating system you are using and which browser.

Thanks in advance!

BROWSER SUPPORT FOR WEBP FORMAT

Chrome 4 to 8 does not support for WebP Image Format. Chrome 9 to 22 partially supports WebP Image Format. Partial support in older Chrome, Opera and Android refers to browsers not supporting lossless and alpha versions of WebP. Chrome 23 to 67 supports for WebP Image Format.

Mozilla Firefox

WebP Image Format is not supported by Mozilla Firefox browser version 2 to 61.

Internet Explorer

IE browser version 6 to 11 doesn't support WebP Image Format.

Safari

Safari browser version 3.1 to 11.1 doesn't support WebP Image Format.

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge browser version 12 to 17 does not support this propertyweb-p-image-format.

Opera

Opera version 10.1 doesn't support WebP Image Format. Opera version 11.5 partially supports WebP Image Format. Partial support in older Chrome, Opera and Android refers to browsers not supporting lossless and alpha versions of WebP. Opera version 12.1 to 53 supports WebP Image Format.

Well interestingly enough, it says webp s supported and I believe I am seeing images generally speaking - but it thinks I'm using Chrome when I'm using Opera. Odd.
Same chromium code base so not that much different

If you are running any of the Mac OS versions in red below, your Safari does not natively support WebP images (like we use here, and much of the rest of the world uses now). You either need to update your OS (you can possibly still update to Big Sur if you have a ten year old mac) or use a third party browser - Chrome or Firefox (or whatever) - which is the easy fix in my opinion, although there are valid security reasons for keeping your OS up to date - yes, even on a Mac.
