I caught two small snakes that looked like that one in my hanger. I'll have to see what they are since didn't see a rattle on them.

This thread got pulled back into the mix 10 years after it stopped. There is a newer one here.... Can these two be merged?

Boring trip to Eueston and back but with one sight you don’t often see pass under your wing. 9A940185-EF44-4BE6-A9B0-B001F74B2741.webp

Great cub places include Catamount, on the southern edge of Vermont’s northeast kingdom, where great Vermont Pheasant Farmers get free photos on the porch of the wood fired sauna on wheels.

New pup. First flight, first Ranger ride, first boat ride, first day at the cabin. He's picking up where his predecessor left off. It doesn't get any better than that. :) Bumpy both ways. Brutal crosswinds at the cabin. No problem for the passenger!

I’ll play. Just brought a 7ECA from Denver to San Diego. Beautiful flight. 160 Lycoming, burned 6.3 gph at 110-120 mph. Convinces me that the 160 is the very best engine! My 180 Decathlon burns ten! And doesn’t go much faster.

Overnights have changed. Gallup is full of truly nice people, but no hotels close to the airport, and no courtesy car. I was pretty tired, so went to the local Hilton on a quick recommendation. $221.60 with AAA discount. They gave me a couple bottles of water, but no breakfast, no shuttle, horrible TV, and until I figured it out, really stuffy air conditioning.

If you go to Gallup, the airport itself is very friendly, and the taxi folks are right there. Check out the Spring Hill Hotel - might be a better deal.

ADSB saved my ass - I missed a NOTAM for Blythe. They picked me up 15 miles out, and told me about a 10 NM restriction around the airport! I was monitoring Unicom, and they called with my N-number, probably saving me a violation. They weren’t real busy, but still - nice folks. I have little actual experience with ADS-B, so was startled that they knew my N-number.

sj, What indicated cruise speeds do you get and with what power settings, using that constant speed prop?
Hard to say as my airspeed indicator is not very accurate. I plan around 100-105mph. Extended wings, big tires, etc make it no speed demon. Although I’m happy with the prop these last almost 20 years if I did it today I would do ground adjustable - if only because the cs props are now super expensive.
