Whelen vs Aeroflash?

Am going to put strobes on my ' 12, probably on the fuselage. Am still deciding where the strobe(s) will be installed; the wings are probably not an option due to the fact they are already covered and it would take too much work. It's a little unclear about whether one on the belly is good enough. Whelen's website doesn't refer to planes certificated in the 1940's, although I did write and receive their opinion that it would take at least two strobes to get the coverage required by regs. Am not crazy about putting one on top of the rudder, would have to recover it.

My question is this: does anyone have any experience with Aeroflash strobes? I realize Whelen strobes work well, but Aeroflash is a lot cheaper. Maybe there's a good reason for that...would rather spend the extra money to avoid a hassle later, if that's the case.

Thanks for your opinions. I've already done a search of this site and not found anything that compares the two manufacturers. I'd also be interested to hear your thoughts on where to place them.

If I were going to spend the money on strobe lights, it would not be either of your choices, I would go with the aveo flash strobe lights, they are much lighter, they do not require the seperate power box, and only require 18 gauge wire run out to all of the position lights, and strobes. Not to mention that the led bulbs should last a lifetime. just my 2 cents

Here is a link to there site.

Thanks for the link.

I can't tell if these are usable for certified planes or not, will have to contact them. They have a link for info on installation but it doesn't work.

Hidden in the verbiage about pricing is a note that TSOed strobes will be approx 15% higher priced when the TSO is received. So they're not yet usable on certified planes unless you can get them approved on a 337.

Aha--found it, thanks.

These actually look like a very good option. I've been emailing back and forth already with their contact person; they're expecting TSO approval in the next few weeks. I love that they can use the existing nav light wiring.
