I bought the oval clips at stoddards 10 years ago, the teardrop ones from univair last week. I would like to buy some more of the oval ones but can’t seem to identify who made them. They are much heavier duty than the current ones. Thanks Tim
Try a good plumbing store. The originals were used to hold the toilet chain to the flapper valve or handle. Piper, back in the day, used what was in either the Lock Haven hardware store or the Case Tractor parts dept.
I have some of those oval clips and I agree- they do seem stouter than the teardrop shaped clips.
I tried googling but all I can find are the teardrop clips.

That said, I have a set of these teardrop-shaped clips on my C180,
they are heavier duty than some I've seen--
enough so that I'm not concerned about them not being up to the task.
