Using EI CGR-30P for RPM off Pmags

FRIEND
This is my first avionics install so this might not make sense. I am using the EI CGR-30P and have dual Pmags on a titan O340. The EI instructions show connecting the RPM leads from the CGR to the p leads on the switch but the Pmags have terminals dedicated for tach output. Would there be RPM signal on the p leads? It would be nice to hear from someone who has done this setup.

Did you order the CGR30P configured for P-Mags? They set them up differently depending on what ignition you are using and send appropriate resistors to go in the line.

Pmags fire on every crank revolution. Glass instruments need to be configured for that. I’m not familiar with the EI instrument but recall a frustrating morning with my G3X and RPM configuration settings!

Thanks much for reply. I don’t remember them asking what mags I was using and my paperwork doesn’t show. I questioned one of their reps yesterday on how to connect it and let him know I had Pmags but he didn’t mention how it was configured. I will contact them again and ask that question.

I know it took a while to get the right isolator (resistors) for the SureFly. Sounds like you got it figured out.

What has your experience been with Bendix mags and the resistors? Has there been a certain set/setup that has worked consistently? I'm still having issues with my EI R-1 being jumpy and have tried different combinations of them with no fix.

I had Bendix on my Super Cub. Now I have one SureFly. Don’t remember, think I just used what EI recommended and never had an issue.
