Trim System Squawk

Is it normal to run top and bottom trim cables AND the indicator cable through a total of only 2 fairleads per station? On both the first and second stations behind my trim handle, the top trim cable currently runs through the same fairlead as the indicator cable. This where the wear occurred and where the two became twisted.

I can't tell for sure from BP's pictures, but it looks to me like there is a separate fairlead for the indicator cable and it is never combined with the top trim cable through a single fairlead?

That's what I figured. This is an inherited problem--I can't believe the prior owner (who was an A&P/IA) rigged it up like this when he did the STC install. In the process of fixing the problems created by the original -12 trim system, he managed to create unnecessary problems with the new -18 system.

Nothing time and money won't fix, I suppose, but I'm missing a really cool fly-in I planned to attend at Caveman Ranch in Utah this weekend because of his decision ten years ago to run two cables through one fairlead.

New trim cable installed, and the plane is back flying again.:pty:

Wasn't fun, but wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Would have been much harder without all your pictures and advice.

Thanks everyone for the help!:cheers
