Time for an OKLAHOMA Fly-in.

Tell Eddie, welcome to the world of vibrant colors, no more life with Marginal VFR... we’ll miss you and having been there and done that, his Dr is right he needs to wait a bit.

Kirby

This is Charlotte, communicating for Eddie! Eddie was able to get a slot Tuesday to have cataract surgery on his left eye (he was on the "list" and thought he would have to wait a couple of months). He asked the doctor then if he could travel by the weekend and the answer was "yes" if his eye healed "on time." Well, today he fessed up to the doctor that he wanted to fly to Oklahoma and the doctor told him that he would not advise it! So I have one sad guy here, but he is healing ok and will have the other eye done in a couple weeks. Even if he could/would type, I don't think he would have the heart to tell you that he will not be able to make it since he enjoys your company and stories so much.

You will drive all the way to Mexico, but you won’t drive to Tulsa? You don’t have to fly you know.

We had an amazing weekend, Nancy and I really enjoyed hosting a great group and will be doing it again next fall.

Thanks all for making it happen especially my wonderful Wife and those who braved the fall temps for a visit, a night or two.

I got no pictures, my camera on my phone is broken but this weekend was the most fun I have had in along time. Great time visiting with everyone, great food, great place and to top it all off we got to one up each other on the river till we all gave up before we did something stupid. ;). Was truly a great weekend. Cathy had a great time too except she made me do the landing at Crowe Bar from the back seat. She is asleep in her chair as I post this with her faithful dog asleep in her lap.

Can't wait to see the bar hopping videos Brandt took after he trusted Kevin enough to drop him off on an island in the middle of the Arkansas river with only 2 beers. 8)

We pushed pretty hard on the door to stupid on that spot, and one or two others.

And a big thanks to our hosts for a great weekend.

Thanks goes out to the Crowe’s for putting on a first class fly-in. The effort and planning Kirby and Nancy put into it was phenomenal! Here’s a few pictures from the weekend......

And for the record that bottom picture in NOT of our place (and if you show that to Nancy I'll hurt you) but belongs to a good flying friend who allowed our group to come visit, can't believe nobody walked up the road to get a picture of his gate ornament.

Looked like times were tough over there. The pool was under 80 degrees, the rubber duck had capsized in the hot tub, they had had to downsize to a one hump camel, one of the multiple side by sides had a tough time starting, their smith cub was parked outside and the deer had ate their turnip crop (on purpose). I was glad Eaton suggested we stop in to see if they needed some food or firewood chopped;-)
Luckily Brandt saved the coordinates in case we ever have engine trouble and need a spot to ditch in that part of the world.

I saw these notams when we were heading to Crowe Bar Friday. It looks like someone else was having fun over the weekend.

Kirby, Linda and I had a great time visiting with everyone. Even did a bit of bar hopping with the Texicans. But what was really nice was hearing the true story of Randy’s and Rays fishing trip at Gaston’s,,,,, as told by Randy. No interruptions, no nonsense, just the good old truth about big trout.

Next time you should pack along a chair and umbrella for the photo crew, and maybe a cooler.
Good idea. Next time I will. Then we can bet on who can knock BTV out of his chair first after getting sideways landing that sandbar

Sorry Kevin but knocking BTV out of his chair isn't much of a challenge !! First time I met him in Winifred MT he was drinking "Texas Whiskey" (not recommended if you enjoy good whiskey) and fell out of his chair numerous times without the aid of anyone else! I believe Ranch Pilot will stand by my unbiased opinion on this matter.

Kirby your place looks great, sorry I couldn't make it. I have to say there are some great Supercub people in the Midwest and You and Nancy are two of the best! I hope all the good whiskey wasn't consumed, I know BTV only drank the stuff that was under $10 a bottle!

Now on to Randy Corfman, everybody loves "Dr Randy" and I was once one of those people! But thanks to friends like Steve Eaton (I think we all know Steve to be a humble and honest man) who keep me informed as to Randy's consistent underhanded manner in undermining my talents as a Fly Fisherman quite frankly it has become beyond Character Assassination! Its just mean and angry. One has to wonder that if his professional daily view has affected his interaction with fellow Males Friends! Just Saying!! :-)

Here's a picture of our fishing guide, or maybe I should say "Dr Randy's Best Friend"

You lucky guys, I spent the weekend working on my project wishing I was there lying and drinking too!! :cheers

Had a few calls and yes Nancy and I are planning to make it happen again, details to follow for 10/23-25.

And Hunter is getting married that weekend, in-laws and family will be here.

Then you best hustle up and get your assigned Fly-in prep tasks done early.

Actually, we were going to cancel the fly-in when you were throwing a beach party that weekend but with with the travel ban our weekend opened up and besides you're trading a fly-in for a happy Daughter and new Son-in-Law.

With only a few (2) showing early interest in attending and after beginning fly-in chores then making a long list of more we have likely overthought this but after much consternation/regrets Nancy, Molly and I have decided to forgo hosting a fly-in this fall.

Life will continue, we'll look at next year. Maybe in the spring (before bugs) or earlier fall (after bugs).

Please let me know your thoughts.

Kirby
