Upgrades can be very expensive. Make sure you have an agreement in place prior to same.

Yup. Think of it as a pre-nup. Good article in this months AOPA by Mike Busch ref arrangements with shops. Arrangements with spouses, however....
 
Steve, does the wife know that you're looking to upgrade? Asking for a friend. LOL
 
I own a 1953 C180, and all I've got for avionics is a com radio, intercom, txp, ads-b, & G5.
I've seen a number of other 180's where the owner ponied up $50K or more (sometimes way more!) for a glass panel.
But as a VFR pilot, I don't think all that gear would make my airplane more fun to fly.
