Sutton Exhaust and heater woes

Ever since I put the Sutton exhaust on (the noise of which I hate, btw), the heater has been rubbish. It hasn't been a problem to date because the aircraft lives in a sub-tropical part of Australia. However, it is shortly to move to New Zealand where it is a LOT colder. 🥶

Is this a known issue? What are the remedies?

Thanks,

David

Is your carb heat and cabin het inlet mixed up? Works great for me, how cold does it get in NZ? You could get the heat ribbons added to the muffler.
This happened to me. Went into annual and the heater stopped working. Also the heater relies on ram-air. Does it have a lot of airflow?

Will look into it. Very reassuring to know that there ought to be a solution.

Britbloke: I, for one, agree: stock mufflers are loud enough as is, but, unlike Suttons, their tone isn't unpleasant. I'm curious; did you experience any significant performance difference that justified the expense of the modified exhaust system?

If nothing else fixes the low heat output, sweaters and jackets work great; portable, lightweight, and low maintenance, too. Lots of wool in NZ, I hear.
😊

LOTS of wool, but still much less than there used to be.

My Sutton produces a crazy amount of heat. So much so that I have melted things with the air coming out of the heat outlet. Double check your connections to make sure they are not reversed and also make sure you have adequate airflow. My air inlet was moved to the center of the old oil cooler location in the lower nosebowl and works well.

You guys not flying with noise cancelling headsets? Never noticed the noise on any exhaust setup and I have been in most setups and combos out there. The sutton exhaust is well known for great heat, something is plumbed wrong or its not getting air.
