Well! That's good to KNOW Jerry! About the only bars left in ANC that I made my mark in (generally, that would be an impression of my forehead on the bar....) are F Street Station, and the Gaslight. They have done tored down alla' the other good old watering holes on 4th Ave. in an attempt to make all the Left Coasters :Gflower::cluck:Galien: who came to Alaska in the last 10 - 20 years happy.

Closing at 2 A.M. now. :whis: Can't even SMOKE! It's A BAR god%^$*& !! :bad-words: In ALASKA!!:onfire:

I'd say the Pioneer too, but they have sissified & yuppied all "the REAL Alaska" right outta' THAT bar. But the other two would be honorable still.

And if enny of them fellers are still gonna' be there next Monday (03/19) and are having breakfast at Gwennie's around 10 A.M. tell 'em to keep an eye out for an Aloha shirted dude that still looks half:sleeping: . That'd most likely be me....

CloudDancer; I'm with you.

Ruination of many good Northern Establishments have been carried out by new comers that say they are trying to civilize the community.

They are the ones that may drive by someone that is in distress because that is what they do in civilization. Give me the the Old Time Northerners because you know they will always be there when you need them regardless of their sobriety. (they played hard worked hard and were capable of performing insurmountable tasks that was not believed by southerners when informed about them). The North has made Men and Women grow and do things they would never imagine possible, but stood up when they were called on.

My mark is still on some of the establishments that are left.

Go Cubbers go. You guys have accomplished a great event. You have shown the North still has the environment allowing People, Individuals, Groups and Organizations to excel. (This is from a Northern Canada Bush Pilot)

Met the fellers today at PAGS filing their EAPIS b.s. Didn't seem to impressed with coastal winter weather. I have pics on my phone I can email to someone who knows how to post them.

Pics of the -18's and -12...

Dear "GBFLYER", I'm co-owner of the PA-12. Would like to have any pics of it & the other -18's. If you send me a private email through Supercub.org, I'll send you my email where you can send the pics. I'll share with the group. Thanks !

Can email to you, or BradleyG already has them. Nothing worthy of the calendar, can make out the -12 though. Nice bird!

Back Home...

Just talked to the guys. One is back in Seattle. The three others have returned to 1N1. There are a few additional stories from the border to 1N1 that are better told around camp fires.

They are, however, safe and sound back, although one still has one last leg to make back to South Texas.

Thanks to all that followed this adventure.

If any interesting pictures find their way to me, I will post them.

Again, thanks to all, this was a great adventure. The "Last Great Race" the Iditarod, was the inspiration for all of us.

There will be other cub trips, I am sure for this group, but not maybe of this scope again.

Thanks for following.

The cubbers have completed a tremendous feat. I take my hat off and congratulate them on their success. Jerry you have done an excellent job of keeping us informed. I have been checking this site several times a day. Thank you. (loyd)

For those of you that would like to see video of this trip. It is now available on you tube.

1st part "Lower 48 to AK" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vmuryjkano

2nd part "Anchorage to Nome" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek-bxndZ-_I

3rd part "Anchorage back to 48" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSYpdYOJd6Y

If clicking the link does not work, just copy each link and paste it in your browser. (One link, of course, per movie) The movies were made by the lead pilot. His choice of music is less than inspiring! :-)

A Hollywood producer wanted to film this trip, but after reading his proposed reality script all pilots bailed on him. Enjoy, instead, the home made video.

Wonderful vidios. Would be interesting to review packing list for the trip. More info on tents and heaters would also be of interest. Again, great vidios.

Thanks for posting the videos. My vicarious enjoyment was immense. I only wish you could have completed the flight. When we briefly talked at Oshkosh you believed the cause of engine failure was carburetor ice. Is that still the case? Can you offer any advice.

Thanks again for great posts!

Yes. Use carb heat on every approach. Install a carb temp sensor. Put VGs on your wings. Fly the machine until it stops! :-)
