I'm sure some of you remember my stall HORN.. It's legendary, coming into New Holstein it will drown out I mean conversation at the pavilion....
Well I've experimented a bit pulling the breaker and such and I know I need to get it addressed and I know I'm required to have it installed and working so I'm working on a quieter more gentile kind of a horn now that I found where that bloom-en KLAXON is located in the panel it may get some sound insulation since it often evokes flashbacks of "duck and cover" drills wherever I go.
The latest development seems odd, yesterday while practicing different landing techniques it was going off as usual intermittently on down wind while decelerating 70-60 then it would quit and resume most of the way on final from about 55 to about half way through roll out. Definitely annoying but it does keep the wildlife from returning to the runway.
Later, I climbed up (2/3 fuel and just me) and went thought a bunch of practice (I know, I know, I should do more and it was a resolution) with slow flight, D-stalls (way nose high w/ airspeed buried and 0-160-300 fpm mushing decent, she never stalled just sunk but if I really worked the stick I could hold the -160 for a long time while I had still strong control authority and when I pushed over she instantly recovered like she had stalled) and A-stalls were pretty much the same just lower deck angle and a rapidly increasing sink rate instead of a stall/fall. With all this I noticed that the stall horn never went off, so I checked the breaker and it was in, well that is until I came back for a normal landing...
I know the VG's make a tremendous increase in stall performance from what this (virtually stock 150, w/ original cover) SC was before but I can't explain the horn and this is the first time (I know, I know) that I have done stalls all the way till she wanted to quit since putting the VG's on ... anyone have a clue could the VG's be affecting the horn even though they are mounted well behind it the little flipper thingy and if we can adjust the horn actuator for this or is it just possessed?
Thanks for the help and remember you're not just helping me you'll be removing a hindrance to the bench flying of countless others... maybe even yourself!
