Slipping Skytec starter with Sensenich ground adjustable prop

Has anyone else had this? It starts, but it sounds and feels like it's slipping; less so when the engine is warm.

@Steve Pierce? Any ideas?

I ran that prop on a 320 for several years with no issue with a Skytech starter. I am now running one on an 0360. No issues there either. Not sure what you have going on.

The 149NL uses a one way bearing that can slip. Not too hard to pull apart and clean if you have a gear puller.

Ok, so looks like the problem is that I have had a 149NL starter with a 122 tooth flywheel for years. Switching to the lighter prop has made it slip. I'll need to get a 122-NL, unless anyone else has any other suggestions? And do I need to replace the flywheel because it's worn? @Steve Pierce

If it were me I would go for a new or good used flywheel and a starter to match.

Did you actually count the teeth on the starter ring, or are you just going by what "should" be on there?
