Registration archive search

I have been asked to show documentation proving that I actually previously owned an aircraft. Been on the FAA registration website for over an hour looking for a way to see a registration archive or database or something I can print a record from.
Thus far, squat.
I know it is possible to do some sort of registration history search, but, I need some hand holding here. How is it done? Or is there a legitamate phone number to call, Ok City?

thanks Joe

The CD will have your info but it will cost you ten bucks. You might call your FSDO and explain your problem to them. They might provide you a letter for no charge. jrh

When I bought my cub I got a copy of all the files on the CD emailed to me in under 2 days with a Title Search through AOPA, think it was $80? I think that may show the history of any liens that were recorded and if they were released if you need it quicker.
