Red Bull Air Races in Ft. Worth Texas

Saw several SuperCub.org members at the Red Bull Air Races in Ft. Worth, Texas this past weekend. I know we had a blast watching the races and catching up with old friends. I will post a few pictures but hope some of those who are good photographers will do the same. Some of the shots on facebook were amazing.

My shots weren't very good of the races with my phone but because of some people I know we got to go in the hangers and talk to some of the pilots and crew. It was a hoot. Lou called us while we were driving in and then we run into Murph and Larry Singley on the way in the gate. Several other Super Cubbers were there we just didn't run into them.

Lee and Tom in front of the course map. Girls came in later on Sunday so we could do our thing.

The course was amazingly tight. Mike Goulian said it was 8 out of 10 difficult and 10 out of 10 stupid. They were pulling out and cutting pylons like crazy on Sat in the wind. Sunday was calm and they were faster and more precise.

Lee got to visit with one of his many heroes Mike Goulian. Mike is a great guy and always spends time with Lee whenever we see him.

The Frenchman, Ivanoff won.

Mike Goulian told me yesterday that Ivanoff's airplane has been lowered 6" by cutting down the firewall, nose tank and instrument panel. They all run the same engines and props but can modify the air frames within certain perameters. He was talking about how modifying one thing effects 10 others. I laughed and said welcome to my world.

Steve - looks like we were in the same neighborhood. Mike Goulian is a great guy. Always has time for his fans.
