PPI Exhaust

Has anyone done testing on the new PPI exhaust verses stock or Leading edge exhaust systems?

I have mine installed and do like the clean installation. At takeoff I am pulling 2450 rpms, I have a 150 hp engine with a 82 by 41 pitch bore prop. This past winter I felt I had a increase in performance but in the warmer weather I don't seem to see any difference in performance over my old stock exhaust.

I have been hearing some mixed reviews about the exhaust was just wondering what other people have learned.

I don't think PPI has ever claimed an increase in performance. Just a cleaner lighter exhaust system.

I hope I didnt sound like I was implying PPI had misrepresented there exhaust. Brian had told me strainght out the reason for the new exhaust was part of the STC for the constant speed prop. He never once said there would be a increase in horsepower. Brian did say the PPI exhaust was designed for a 150 HP engine and the stock exhaust original design was for a 125 hp enging, piper only extended the headers to fit the 150 hp engines and left the muffler the same. That is one of the reasons why the stock exhaust has a 1 1/2 " exhaust pipe and the PPI has a 2" exhaust pipe this should allow less back pressure.

I am interested in any performance testing that has been done on the exhaust thats all. Myself I like the exhaust and have sold my old stock exhaust, guess thats proof I am happy with my PPI exhaust.

Helllo,

LEES website has a link to a test done by LYCON comparing exhaust systems. It is claimed as being unbaised, so..... That is the latest, last info I have stumbled into.
