Phoenix to NE Tennessee

It looks like I'm going to Phoenix to pick up a Luscombe to bring back home. I've never been out West before and am looking for advice. Right now I'm leaning towards flying North to I-40, then following I-40 back to TN, but I'd like to hear from people more experienced in doing this.

Hi Thomas,

I have gone that way in the past and it was ok. Having said that I am leavng phoenix tomorrow or monday for Monroe LA. and will fly south through El Paso and follow the 10 for the most part. Just not interested in dealing with the Rockies weather on this one. I have never been to LA. before do you know of any must sees or do s in that part of the country?

Yeah, after talking to some others, south through El Paso seems to be the way to go. It will probably be a week or 2.
