PA18-95 to PA18-150

Steve, I just finished the move from a C90 to 160 hp. We tried to keep it light as possible. I love the horse power. Just talk to SJ, he flew it in the NH take-off and landing contest. See results. Can carry all my camping equipment , fuel, and passenger ,No Trouble.

Steve, If your engine trade falls thru, I've got an O-235 with 400 and some odd hours on it. I have to look at the logs for the exact TT and time SMOH. I'd be willing to trade the O-235 for the O-320.

The O-320 is in the hanger along with a lot of bits and pieces like flap bell cranks etc. that I have been collecting. I guess flying around Idaho helped make my decision.

Is this the Cub I flew a little while I was there? Nicely balanced, pulls like a mule. If it lost anything, it is entirely Johnson's fault....

Enjoying a little time off, but back to killing bugs tomorrow, be back when the snow flys.

Steve, remember Duane Cole, when he stated a movement and called it Back to Basic,s. His thoughts were that to many pilots depend on power and not basic skills. You will learn this with a 90hp.

Hi everybody!
I fly a friend´s Cub on EDO 1650 floats, O-200 engine and no flaps. (used to be a PA 18-90).
But it is TOOO weak! It is not a two seater on the floats all days.. :( In good wind conditions and with little fuel you can fly 2..)
We are thinking about putting in a O-320, but are not sure if the tubing in this fuselage is too weak for this.
This is a Experimental cub and I think that the fuselage has been changed to a 150 type. It looks exactly the same as my own 150 Cub.
(outtakes for flaphandle and pulleys.)
Any info about this?

What prop are you running, a 0200 is like a 2 stroke engine, you need to be turning at least 2700 rpm at TO to get the rated power, if you are only turning 2500 or less, your only making 80 some odd hp or less, a standard C150 climb prop 69-48 is a easy place to start, but a Mac 74-40 or 38 might work better, go borrow some props and experiment.

Glenn

Hi Glenn,
We are running a Maccauley 69-48 and have some 2550 rpm static. (if you can trust the rpm indicator??)
We have borrowed this prop. My friend had a sensenich 74-42, and with that one we only had 2200 static.... No good..
We have brand new ECi cylinders, newly ovehauled carburetor, new mag´s and new sparkplug leads. But i am not sure of the operation of the carb. We get the 2550 rpm about half the travel of the throttle, then nothing more. In my own PA 18 150 the rpm is linear with the throttle advance all the way up.
Yesterday, I took my girlfriend for a trip to our nearby mountains in this cub. Well, the cub is still in the mountains.... The wind dropped to zero and that is not good for take off.. :o
I had to call my dad to come and pick us up after a 1,5 hour mountain hike. Going to pick it up tomorrow, will fly there with a C-180.
luckily I have a tough girl and she didn´t mind the hike! It could have been like this :bad-words: So, my want to have list; EDO 2000´s+PA18-150. (Use my own as glider tug during summer)
