PA-18 Engine Baffles

Anyone know where the best place is to purchase PA-18 engine baffles for the 0-290-D2 135HP engine? Univair seems awful expensive. Would buy a used if someone has a set.

Thanks,
Steve

Last year I was in need of a set of baffleing and ended up buying from Univar also, however Airframes Inc. located in Big Lake AK. told me at the time they were gearing up to make Super Cub baffeling, might give them a call.

Another source for baffles is Randy Rubbert in North Dakota. Don't know that you will save any money, but he is known for building a quality product. Call 701/847-3008.

I just returned from Randy's 15 minutes ago, spent the afternoon with him. His baffling is A1, superb fit and quality workmanship. His baffling has run out one engine and is half way through another on a couple different planes around here. Not sure of the price, but give him a call, great to visit with also. The number Ron gave is correct.

Steve,

Van's has a very complete set of plans or the actual precut baffles for various engines. I know they have them for O-320 and O-360 Lycoming's.

Might take a look or call them about your engine.

I bought my set from Randy Rupert. Price was about par, baffling was nice, Randy was very good to deal with. I would have no hesitation ordering from him again. His price was not much above my mechanics discount from a major supplier.

I have an O-360 engine and the #4 cylinder tends to run routinely hot. Is this usual?

I have an all-cylinder monitor and the #4 CHT runs about 360 on a 70 degree day at 2500 rpm . This is about 30 deg higher than the others. The #4 EGT is similarly hotter than the rest. Any concerns?

Baffling is in good shape.

The problem is you have too much information. Remove your EGT / CHT gauge and you'll be a lot happier. Less junk and weight under the cowl to boot.

Crash

Or Crash, you could remove your primer and lines, that key switch, and install an EGT/CHT, a couple toggles and a push button and have something more useful and reliable for less weight. :D Just kidan ya.
To each his own. KingCub, 360 deg. isn't going to hurt anything.

Bill-

If this 337/stc for the J-5 goes through I will design/copy some and get them all CNC bent/cut. I have a guy with a PA-11 that needs some and also the pa-18-95 I fly needs a new set. Your welcome to whatever I get made.
