OK , I found one STC so far that lets the PA-18A-135 go to 1750 gross using the Borer STC SA292AL.

Now somebody here said that they thought the gross weight went to 1760 when the 135 horse PA-18s went on EDO 2000s. WHERE DO I FIND THAT?

Does anyone else know of any other way the 135 horse SC can have more legal gross?

Alex,

The 1760 gross weight is for the PA-18S (for seaplane) 150, when fitted with EDO 2000 floats. That, I believe, is in the TC for the 150 Cub.

You would have to look for the STC which permits the installation of EDO 2000 floats on the 135 Cub. I don't believe that the 135 Cub has the bigger floats on its TC.

The test would be the wording in the STC. I can't believe that it wouldn't be 1760 on floats, but who knows, it'll be whatever was specified at the time of the approval.

Well I went on the SLOW computer for awhile and I finally found a copy of Aircraft Specification N0. 1A2.
And AR-7.

It shows the max gross on the PA-18-135 abnd 135A as 1500 lbs on wheels.

Then on item 209b that EDO 89-2000 floats and water rudder are installed as per Edo drawing 14390.

Then it list the gross weight as 1760 lbs with a CG range of 16.2 to 20.0 inches.

There is an STC (Wag Aero I think) to up the gross on the PA18-135 to 1750 by changing the landing gear cabane vee. I have accomplished it on two 135 Cubs.
