PA-12 wings w/30.3 gal tanks, 18 flaps, and droop tips

I am helping a friend with the purchase of a PA-12 with 30.5 gal Dodge tanks with sight gages, pa-18 flaps, extended ailerons, and Ferguson droop tips. The plane has always been on wheels and was rebuilt from the ground up in 2002. The wings and tanks are pristine Ceconite with Stits and are in as new condition -- no leaks, patches, or repairs.

He doesn't need the big tanks and likes the original bow tips.

If we were to sell the wings as they are now flying on the aircraft, what would be a reasonable price for them complete with the flaps, ailerons, and sealed lift struts?

I'm not sure what they're worth, But I'm interested in buying them. PM me when you come up with a price.

Unless things have changed in the last year, PA-12 wings with Dodge tanks with extended ailerons and tips are approved by field approval not STC. Due to a policy change a few years ago, the FAA stopped issuing field approvals for this combination. A rebuild in 2002 probably made it just before the change in policy. Unless there is someway to transfer a field approval from one aircraft to another, it may be difficult to use these wings legally on another 12. I'd suggest investigating this with FAA before purchase. It'd also be worth a check with Atlee Dodge to see if they have by any chance obtained the a modification to their tank STC in 12's to allow this combination.
