PA-12 empty weight

none reported, but really not much difference, just making the strap into a airfoil like strut tube, I don't know but I would guess 95% of all standard 12 gear now is aerodynamic.

I didn't like the condition of the gear tubing on my 12, so I just installed a stock 14 gear rather than converting the 12 flat strap.

Looks like a stock 12 without much crap is close to the 1100 lb area, and even if you get the lightweight starter, alt and small battery , and get down to 1070 ish, by time you bolt on a borer prop your still right back into the 1100 lb figure??? Wonder how (slow) the stall speed of an 1100 lb Cruiser ,compares without flaps ,to a 12/1300 lb one with flaps?
Comments??? Anyone care to publish unflaped stall speeds with n without VGs??? How SLOW will yours fly??

Cruise speed depends on power setting and, more so, prop pitch. Either way, Cubs are either slow or slow.

Speed depends directly on the cube root of the thrust horsepower ratio. Thrust horsepower can often be increased by reducing the pitch. So, depending upon the shape of the power curve, it is sometimes possible to increase speed by reducing pitch.
