Oil screen housing 62815 differences?

I’m currently replacing a cracked oil screen housing on an O-320-A2B. Part number 62815. The unit currently installed on the engine has the oil probe installed in the port. Inside that port is a conical seat that the probe bottoms out against. I’ve gotten two different replacement housings that are lacking this seat in the housing port. Has anyone run across this issue before? Without something to tighten against obviously the housing leaks. I’ve looked at the old hosing as close as I can and I’d swear the seat is machined into the port.

Yes. Common issue. The housing on the supercub is too close to the firewall to use the adapter pictured above (comfortably). Some were machined with the threads all the way thru that use that adapter, some were machined with the threads only half way thru and a beveled reduction was left in the housing on the others. The casting part number is the same, but the actual part number is different. You have to have someone physically look at it that knows what they are looking at if you buy one from someone.

What would be nice is if someone with intricate machining skills could make an insert for the ones with the threads all the way thru. They are in abundance compared to the ones for the supercub.

yeah, that’s exactly what I was afraid of. Thanks for the response.
