Aerodrome has been working on the Sopwith Camel trying to get it ready for the upcoming video shoot with the Air&Space museum.
Hasn't been flying in the show for 10 years. First engine start this weekend. Blip switch and selector switch for 3, 6 or all 9 cylinders, no throttle.

22 years ago when I was working we did a similar shoot for the documentary on " Who shot down the Red Baron"

On Google Earth, it looks like there is a 1600" field just behind the west side of the barns. Do you know how do the owners feel about feel about ski-planes landing there? [I would call first anyway.]

We have been landing wheels and skis over there for 15 years. Problem right now is not hardly any snow and lots of mud.
I check it out when conditions change

The sun finally came out for the first time in a couple of weeks. I figured there would be a few cubs out at the usual spots but the nice weather must of kept them away. Stopped by to visit some friends ice fishing, they caught 9 lakers in about 3 hours

9 ski planes for lunch on a gem of an Adirondack day. High 20's, calm wind and sun. Saw a bunch of moose tracks, but still looking for the moose.

How are the snow and ice looking for the fly in at Twitchell Lake on the 18th ? I get back on the 13 and need to put on the ski’s but the neighbors told me there isn’t any snow around Broadalbin. I guess going on wheels would be the easiest. Any WX reports would be appreciated. Thanks Tom

As of last Sunday 15" of ice on Twitchel. Temps were in the teens Sun - Thur night but warmed up a little now. See what this week brings weather wise. Will post conditioner towards end of next week

Glenn

Still looking good for Twitchel lake this Sunday. The snow missed us so bare ice and temps in the teens every night

I checked out the Sap house field yesterday. Looks like it had beans in it this year so should be fairly smooth

Hi Glenn,

Hoping to join, do you have a trusted ice reporter up there this week/weekend?

Thanks,
Rob

Good day today, 9 planes at Raquette
Conditions on Twitchel are fine for both skis and wheels. 15" of ice and 2" of rock hard snow on top

Twitchel, hard enough that sled hardly makes a mark
