Last evening I watched Loni's new video "No Second Chances". Wow, what a great sequence of landings. I’m really impressed with both the flying and quality of the video and editing. Very professional. Much of it takes place on steep slope glaciers in the Alaska Range.

Having flown with Loni I can state that he's every bit the professional that he appears in the video and his landings, everyone of them, are spot on and amazingly short.

Vidio

I have to agree, I watched the same vidio Lonnie made and wow, what a great show. I liked everything about it. As pilots you learn alot by just watching the pro's and pick up alot hints as to what to do at times.
I know this vidio is even better than Lonnies first one. Some amazing pictures of Lonnie flying through some cracks in a rock wall. Its a must see stocking stuffer for everyone that loves cubs.

I too watched the new Cubdriver movie last night, very well done! Great job Loni & Don! I was glued to the screen the whole time, never a dull moment, very entertaining and educational. Loni’s skills are very evident in this movie, I want to be like Loni! He is so smooth and has great judgment, I have to remind myself that he flies 1,000+ hr a year, not your average Joe.

My wife "bought" mine for my birthday 8) . It's sitting on the dining room table for another 2 weeks. It's all birthday gift wrapped in a box decorated in"usps first class". I eyeball it each time I walk by but all things in good time  Nice to have something to look forward to. In the meantime I can play the trailer over and over. I'm kinda trailer trash anyway...

Too bad Loni doesn't participate here. With his experience he could probably contribute a lot to many of the discussions. Really enjoyed the first one, some net flying and beautiful scenery.

Loni

I would love to sit around the camp fire with Loni myself and listen to his story's . He spends his winter's in Africa and I was talking to him on the phone the other day. He said when a Lion roar's at night you just can't believe how loud it is.
I viewed the new C.D he made again last night and it is even better the second time around. I always look for all the little details. This time I kept looking at his airspeed when landing, about 41 mph on the average. He also talked about braking when landing. I'm so excited now, next time I go out I'm going to land at 45 mph and stomp on the brakes. :o
Thanks Loni for putting out such a great C.D. and dedicating it to our friend Shawn

Just finished watching the new www.cubdriver749er.com video “No Second Chances”. It was a real adventure with several features that really stood out. It is set up like a professional movie & shot entirely in High Definition which gives you much more detail; almost like you are there with Loni. With several stabilized cameras mounted inside & outside of the plane you are able to see all perspectives from the pilot, the plane, & the terrain. The flying is a real one of a kind thrill!

Does anyone know if Loni has the thrustline mod? Looking at the trailer it looks to me like the engine is set up , "up" a little. Just wondering.

Loni

I have known Loni for some time now and have always been impressed with his flying and plane performance. So I ask him alot of questions and they are always helpful.
Loni wants to keep his plane as light as possible. So when I see him install something, I know it works or it would most definatly not be on his plane. Thrusline, yes he has it and claims its as much a aprovment as a borer prop change, makes a big differance if the plane is checked prior to make sure it works on it with a spirit leval.
Baby Bush tail wheel, he has that also, it keeps weight on the tail and that helps alot, as well as keeping the axel out of the sand.
Stock wing tips, that too Look what he can do with stock wings.
Belly tank, yup keeps the weight down low on the gravel bars.
Loni is one amazing pilot in my book and if you watch close in his new C.D No Second Chances, you will notice he can even cast a fishing pole now :)

Re: Loni

Thanks for that answer. I wonder if my eyes are that good or if my brain was biased to see it that way since I would assume his aircraft would have the best mods for what he does. Kinda think it was a lucky/likely guess :o Doubt I could have really seen the difference. dave

Loni

Hey everyone if you haven't gotten Loni's new video you are really missing out! The filming on this one is fantastic, it really catches the beauty of Alaska! I really like how much you can learn by watching Loni's videos, this one would make a great Christmas gift!

Loni's new video is a must have ,lots of one way experience without burning a drop of gas Fun to watch great quality lot of real world flying on this video The only thing I missed was the flying monkey(Taucho) great job Loni. Mikeo

Postman just brought my copy here at the office. Can't wait to go home tonight and fire up the DVD player!

:D

I got to watch Loni's new Dvd recently. Wow! :D There's some really tricky landing spots in there. The production and video quality is much better than the first video. I've had the opportunity to fly with Loni several times over the last few years, and I keep being amazed by his precision and consistency. His techniques have opened up a range of possibilities that were just not available before. Anyone interested in off-airport flying can benefit a lot by watching his videos or taking one of his courses.

Son Bobby and I saw the first half with Doug Keller in Portland, then bought our own and watched it over the last two nights. Real nice to see that level of flying...... and Loni it was neat to hear you mention on the glacier that worked out to be a little steeper than you had thought, and you knew your alternate if you couldn't stop sliding once more or less stopped and sideways was to just power up and rudder around down hill and head back out..... I can remember one of those not far from where you were in the Revelations.... On a glacial ice dome in a high bowl not far off the side of Merrill Pass.... Sure was exciting after slowing, but not being able to stop on the slick wet ice to slide around at the top and cobb it and rudder around to blast out... Thanks for a great Video, and I hope to meet you sometime soon!

I received Loni's new video last week and was on the edge of my chair the whole time I watched. Great job, and anyone that flies should Love it! I liked it so much that I emailed Loni and signed up to fly with him this summer. You can never stop learning more from great pilots.

I'm going to be honest. I liked his first video better because if offered more variety. Glaciers doesn't do it for me.

Those mosquitoes are quite something. I'm surprised they don't cake up on the windshield and leading edges like rime ice ...

Great video, my favorite so far and I own all of them.

Sorry to hear about Shown Lunt :(

Maybe a camera facing Loni from the windshield would be nice, so you could see him working the controls.

Showed it to a relative today. He is a pilot but not active since early 90's. He kept remarking that it was amazing what is being done on this film. I kept asking if he wanted me to skip ahead and he just kept saying "no" he was enjoying it. I've watched it several times. I use the laptop and extend the screen to the 42" flat screen for HD quality. It's great! Thanks Don and Lonni.
