Modification of 160 HP Wide Deck

My oh my! What drama. While you are all technically correct and giving good advice, there are so many 10:1 piston jobs running around up here that you would think it was legal! Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and no real problems I know of except for a little more oil burn.

Am I to assume you drive the speed limit and have never flown any airplane over gross. Give it a rest. I had a good laugh at Greg's comment. I'm sure we're all perfect here and just pretending that we have flaws. That's my excuse:lol:

which got me to thinking.......

hmmm and how long till the feds start checking? i would think this would require a warrant? maybe not post accident...

how physically could someone check for which pistons are installed simply???
???put a piston at bottom fill cylinder with a know quantity oil, rotate to top while catching all the oil coming out, measure what came out compared to what you put in.... might need to pull a rocker arm to keep a valve from opening?? or not??

Remember the old time-rite tool? Threads in the spark plug hole. Measures TDC, you could measure the distance between the top of the piston and a depth measuring micrometer, threaded into the spark plug hole. Wouldn't be difficult to rig it up.

on that thought....
would different pistons show different amount of degrees of travel on cone indicator??... like when you use that setup, screw it in, put cone on, bump up to tool, set zero, then spin prop opposite till it hits again keeping track of how many degrees it traveled??? if so, would that be accurate enough???
 
I wonder why someone hasn't gotten an STC for the 10:1 pistons? Is there something the feds would never buy or just the extreme cost it would take?
