9:03 p.m.: EMS crews are responding to a Palmer golf course where a plane has crash landed, no injuries are reported but energized power lines are across the airframe.
Good news: We've received word that the pilot in this crash is ok. He is being checked out by EMTs on site. Bad News: As for the outage - the top of the pole was broken off in this accident. Replacing a pole can take some significant time. We are asking members involved in this outage to be prepared for the outage to last at least a few more hours. Additional crews are being dispatched to assist and hopefully make repairs as quickly as possible. Thank you again for your patience.
The pilots in yesterday's mid-air collision have been identified as Alaska Wildlife Trooper Levi Duell, 35 of Anchorage, and Jeffry Bara, 52 of Eagle River. Their next of kin have been notified. The investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing by the NTSB.
