Jerry Gaston and I finally go fishing.

Torch

GONE WEST
Fairbanks, Alaska
First pic is our Super Cubs at Schute Lake, which is 75 miles WSW of Fairbanks. We had to go through some forrest fire smoke to get to the lake. The smoke made it smell like we were flying through someone's huge barbeque pit. But we endured long enough to get through it.

This is Jerry with a nice trout on his flyrod. The fishing was not as fast as I like but it was hot here today. I think Jerry caught about a half dozen fish and I caught 3. We had a lot of fun flying out and back in formation.

This picture is Jerry cruising through the smoke over the Goldstream Valley west of Fairbanks. The view is towards the south and the Tanana River. We had a great time. Jerry picked up his wheeled Super Cub and it looks great also. Jerry starts his journey home to Montana tomorrow with the wheeled Super Cub. He has all the pictures of me. I am sure he will post them when he gets home. Fun trip and for anyone that hasn't met Jerry, he is a first class guy and it was fun sharing some flying adventures with him.

Thanks for sharing. Thats what many of are trying to get to. Building and or buying cubs so we can do things like that.

Thanks for posting that Torch - glad you guys are having a good time. Looking forward to hearing Jerry's tales in a couple weeks at the NW fly in. Until then - tight lines and tailwinds!!

Torch,
You have a great eye for wonderful pictures. I really enjoy them . Keep up the good work. Rick :D :D :D :D

I always hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but,,,
Gaston, your right water rudder is hanging down. Cut the safety wire and shorten the turnbuckle. I, of course, assume you will do this under the direct supervision of a certified A/P!
:)
Good pics. Great fish!
