iPad mini dash mount

Plenty of air. Never had pad overheat. Easy to angle and adjust if glare issue comes up. Bottom of pad rests on a small lip on lower crossbar with slot for power cord. Pad is held by a 4 arm spring loaded holder mounted to a ram mount. Easy in and out. Worked well for the last 5 years.
I like your tilting mount. Years ago I used an iPad and the reflection at different times of the day was an issue.

My airplane was the 2017 Sporty’s giveaway Legend Cub (no, I wasn’t the winner) and came with an iPad panel and a cooling fan. It would routinely get the overheated screen of death here in Florida, so it was replaced with a Garmin Aera 760. Here’s what the iPad looked like.

Off a ball mount on top of dash. Admittedly that iPad rarely makes an appearance unless it’s a LONG cross country.

As a heavy ForeFlight user and believer in using available assets, I’ll add this humorous cartoon.

My daughter sent me that one after she was not allowed to use the iPad in her initial training in the Cub. After she got her private pilot certificate, she was thoroughly trained on its use. [Not that a seventeen year old needs much training on the use of a computer application.]

I'm a real big fan of the ipad mini setup I have in my cub now. Ram ball plate, short arm, and X-Grip holder. I previously had a RAM ipad mini cradle flat mounted to the dash, but this new one is better for few reasons: 1. I can tilt the ipad up just a little bit. This does wonders for making the visibility of it better. 2. It gets airflow behind it for cooling. 3. When Apple makes changes to the dimensions between versions I don't have to buy a new mount.

iPad heat is definitely an issue if in sunlight. If the sunlight is blocked off from hitting it, then it’s not so bad. Wire up the fans. 👍

On flush mount (behind the panel) holders take a good look at the dimensions when ordering. The space required for the spring assembly and such is much larger than the opening itself.
My iPad mini overheats all the time in the summer, usually just when I wanted to see something important. Also, can be a challenge to see in bright conditions. Will probably ditch and use a Garmin 760. I have the 660 now and always can see it perfectly, never overheats.

I have a Samsung android tablet, not an iPad,
but the only time mine overheats is when parked with the sun shining in on it.
I bought a fold-up windshield sunshade for that reason.
