I need a good clamp on DC amp meter for the shop/hanger.

I figure I need one capable of about 400 amps to cover both the planes and Diesel trucks. I will only use it once a year but always nice to have good tools handy. Any recommendations on what to get or avoid?

I found a Greenlee on ebay when I was working a lot of 480v and it was only like $40. It's worked great! It's a combo, so has plug in leads as well. If I remember, it goes up to like 1,000 amps.

Anything that says 'Fluke' on it.

And be aware that it needs to be rated for DC amps (not AC amps). The two ratings are not interchangeable.

My Dad bought me the Craftsman model 82369 AC/DC Clamp Meter many years ago. As you can see it is still like new. I don't use it much but when I need it it sure is handy. I have Fluke VOM for my day to day multi meter use.

I purchased a Klein CL800 for some HVAC work. 600 amp AC/DC with memory for surge readouts. Also good up to 1000 volts.
Think I purchased it at Home depot.
