How Far Do You Drive to Get to Airport?

There's an Ace Hardware here in Dillingham (3 miles from the house), but Home Depot and Lowe's is a $500+ RT ticket on Peninsula Airways, plus rental car, hotel, etc.

Holy Buckets!! OK...... I will quit whining......
Bill :)

14 steps to hanger floor. Less if we are out camping.the cub is most always close. Unless I drive to Home Depot,

2 miles by road, 5000 feet through the woods and across the highway. The only days I am not at the airport are the days we go out of town.

House is on one side of my strip and the hangar/shop on the other side. Since I am in the hangar more than the house....zero steps. :) I do keep the 172 in town, a 27 mile drive and when I had the floatplane it was a 30 mile drive up to the hangar where I kept it. The fartherest I have had to keep a plane was roughly 100 miles. I have always liked to keep them hangared and that sometimes required a long drive. I think when we were stationed in Georgia and the only available (affordable) hangar was an hour and a half drive away. I will state that the farther away the plane is the less frequent I flew. Took advanced planning and a whole day of free time to be able to go up.

About 2,800 miles, Boston to London or 5h 45 on American/British Airways, plus and hour and a half drive to the airfield. Once I'm there, I can stay in a nice rental apartment, usually for a few days. Or Boston to LA, then 30 minutes to Torrance, but i have to fly a Husky - definitely second choice - and LA airspace is very crowded. Do I get a prize for this? Maybe the jackass award.

Plane is in the yard, taxi it out the driveway...For fun

20 miles to airport for work...

10 miles from home, but I drive by every day on the way home from work! It is easy to stop and go to my happy place!
