I haven’t been on this site since it has been updated. Well to tell you the truth, it has kind of been a bad influence on me, and ended up costing me way too much. I always thought it strange how many of you spoke of the Cessna 180-185 on this Super Cub site. Don’t get me wrong, there was lots of good information, which I curiously looked at from time to time. That was my first mistake!

As a true Supercub purist, I always looked down on the spam can crowd. Having grown up in Alaska around the local air service who used a 185, I was quite familiar with what that workhorse was capable of. Yet I have been quite content with my cub that I learned to fly in, only occasionally looking at various threads from the Cessna operators.

And then it happened, I had a little extra income that I needed to foolishly invest somewhere, sooo, I decided to see if the saying is true, that you can’t have too many airplanes. You might say I didn’t fall off of the wagon, but into the wagon. At this point all I can say is, they sure do fly a lot faster than a cub. Oh, and thanks for all of the past threads on how to properly land and take off in this beast.

P.S. I still have my cub that I won’t part with !!!

All depends on your mission, right? My second bird was a Bonanza. Two different missions. One had twice the speed. The other, well......
it's my baby.......owned one since the mid 70's. Fuel costs are the same.
Congrats Eddy !

I lusted after a 180 since about 1997, after going for my first ride in one, while buying first a 170 (1997) then a C150/150TD (2008).
The 180 fever would gradually subside until I went for a ride in someone's, then it would hit again.
But I always had a reason not to get one: "too much money", "more airplane than I need", etc etc.

I wasn't even looking for one at the time, but when a friend told me that he was thinking about selling his,
I decided it was time to bite the bullet & go for it.
I've had it for 9 years now and I love it, I just wish I'd bought one twenty years ago.

Being a tube and fabric guy for a long time i never really wanted a Spam Can until i flew one with an experienced Cessna driver. I soon realized how nimble the beast can be. It took 18 months of looking to find the one i wanted was right across the taxiway from me. I have no regrets except that it is hard to keep both of them exercised enough so I guess i will just have to go flying twice as often.

I get drug around in a Bonanza a lot. I call it the Magic Carpet. It will spoil you for sure.
