Help! PA-14 or PA-12 Belly Pod Paper work wanted

6440 North

FOUNDER

I have a 1948 PA-14 and would really like to put a belly pod on it. Unfortunately, I am being told that unless one has already installed one and gotten it Field Approved, I'm S.O.L. There was a period back when F.A.'s were done on -12's and -14's but that stopped.

Is this true? If so how about for just a cargo pod and not a gas or gas/cargo pod?

If I was able to get the info on a -12 or -14 that had that mod with the paper work, I might get it approved now.

If you have any info on how to get this done legally, please let me know

I put one on 12 years ago/ or was it on before rebuild?? hmm can't remember.... on one guys here, will look up his handle here for you if I can.. its Scooter7779h

have not seen him on this site lately but he should have a copy of it, if he is willing... no idea on if they are currently doing field approvals on that anymore.. did you talk to the bushpod people?

Such an approval these days requires you to compose a flight manual supplement and installation details and neither is approvable by the FSDO. They need to be reviewed and approved by the FAA engineering department. It isn't impossible but it isn't easy. Old approval paperwork won't help you.
