Cool. I just finished reading Lowell Thomas Jr's biography. He had one for a long time and then donated it to the Aviation Museum in Anchorage. A pretty impressive airplane. Thanks.

I haven't seen that book before, would like to. Have you read the Helio Courier Ultra C/STOL by Frank Rowe? I met several folks that were in that book in years past. John Roberts was the distributor for Helio in the early 70's in South Carolina. We were friends along with his sons that were closer to my age. I was working with John some while he was trying to get Helio "revived" in the late 70s/early 80s............ made some trips to Pittsburg KS. After Johns death I leased the Cross Anchor (Helio) airport until I took a job with the airlines in the mid 80s. I only mention all this as John's oldest son, Brant, entrusted me with his fathers Helio sales and other records from John Roberts Limited as he knew my sincere interest in the Helio. I have contacted several of the Helio owners/operators over the years including JAARS to see if they might be of interest to them but no one ever returned my email or calls. There is a lot of interesting read in there, about 2 folder boxes worth. If you know of someone worthy or an organization, museum that might like to have this information let me know. If something were to happen to me my old lady would just chunk them in the dumpster with all my other old ****.

I guess this explains my affection for the Helio and "bush" flying, although I am not a "bush" pilot. I grew up around the Helio and never got it out of my system. What little time I have in the Helio I got with Larry Montgomery and John Roberts.

Larry sent VCR- factory demo of Helio,s capability, also a walk around of the H-295 that he offered to me at 67,000.00, dark blue with red interior,a few years ago. The little lady said NO.

Off topic, but Lowell Thomas Jr's wife Tay also wrote a book "Our Flight To Adventure" about their 1954 (?) trip in a new Cessna 180--from Paris to Africa & the middle east and back to Paris. A very good read.
