Headliner bows

I've been reading through the headliner threads and the univair website... i seem to remember someone on this site mentioning that they had fabbed the bows from tube... anyone remember or have pics of that install?

I used 2024T3 1/4 OD tubing for both my Taylorcraft and Super Cub.

I flatened the ends just a little and inserted a small length of chromoly, then drilled and tapped for 6-32 screws.

If you flatten the ends completely they will crack and this way it's easy to install and remove the bows.

Soft tubing is not ridged enough to support the headliner under tension.
