Hanger space along the Alcan

Hey cubbers...

Looks like I get to fly a Husky south for the winter. I reserve all negative comments until I fly it lest they give the job to another  .

BUT, the owner wants it hangered EVERY NIGHT.

Weather looks promising for later in the week, (yes I know it is the day of turkeys), so am looking at blasting out of Anchorage on Tuesday or Wednesday. I will come to Juneau if I can get back here and put it in my hanger the first night, but if I get caught inside the mountains, I am thinking whitehorse...

Then work south either to Rupert from Juneau or down the road where ever the weather looks best... Nimpo country????? invited for a :drinking: there I hear!

If I get caught on the Alcan, I will do the road deal, but want to keep a hanger in front of me. Same along the coast.

Suggestions on who to call for hanger space along the route?

Any help appreciated!

George, cub owner and not apolagizing!

My 12 was offered a spot in a big commercial hangar at Smithers a number of years ago - It was January - - Gratefully accepted too!

Two empty hangar spots for ya in Nimpo (Anahim airport) if that crate makes it down this far. Quick hop to Warsh from here.

Will be good to shake your hand & share a brewski, besides pulling your chain. Husky 'eh? :)

Looks like I am off to Anc to get the plane.

Going to try for Whitehorse the first day. Do customs and keep going south to arlington each day.

If you see a white with yellow and brown trim, 31" tires pull in, say hi!

My tentative plan is to follow a road as much as possible. unless I have weather that I can go high and fast.

Tip your hats to all the great things around us, and have a great dead bird day!

George

No idea where you are headed as far as "south" but if you are going through MN. I have space and a place to sleep.

Thanks WW!

Unfortunately the plane goes to Western Washington.

Where I go for weather avoidance, who knows. May be the great circle course to the east and down, with a turn back in Montana :o

Carrying a shotgun with me in case I get attacked by any of them scary pesants, :P Maybe a stop off would be a good idea?

This looked like bait to me.

So when you go home on the oilburner you won't need that shotgun, right?

Logan ... still undecorated Cub. :(

The Esso at the airport by North Cariboo Air in FT St John BC rents hangar space for overnighters At the moment I don't know of anyone not using their hanger. Dieter 2507853207

Thanks guys.

Leave here at 8 tonight, flying south by 9 tomorrow am I hope.

Cross your fingers for great weather!

Clear, sunny & calm @ Nimpo. I can see the E edge of the coast mtns (over 90 miles) but there are clouds over them.

Wayne (@ airport) & Mary (@ home) are expecting you. I'll put up w/you too.

Where's Waldo...er.....AkTango ?

He left Anchorage Lake Hood Wednesday morning and I heard made Whitehorse by early evening.

What kind of cruise speed and power settings on the 31's, George?

..and how come you are handling this over the Thanksgiving holiday? Mrs. Tango's 'green bean casserole' recipe?? :D

Happy Thanky-Day, everyone! DAVE
