Got the skis - now what?

Yours looks pretty good. It took me a long long time and lots of $$$ (the only real key ingredient, of course) to get mine where it is. It's a good performer and has lots of baggage space, which is nice when winter flying. I use it for all sorts of interesting activities around Alaska. A few examples below. Is yours an original PA12 or a 2x2 kit?

That last picture shooting skeet on a mountain top is now on my bucket list. Thanks for shareing.

It doesn't get much better than that. I take a step thrower along which is small but throws clays at least 60yds. I was just up there again last week. I had a 15mph tail wind so the clays really screamed out there. I was using a 20ga Parker S/S. One of my very favorite flites and definitely my favorite place to shoot. Here's a view from last May looking more at the mountain backdrop.

NunavutPA12.... did you get some ski flying in? You went through a lot to get geared up, but didn't see a post on how everything worked out for you. I imagine you are in your last weeks of ski flying now.

...... Is yours an original PA12 or a 2x2 kit?

Mine has an original 12 fuselage, extended wings from a PA-22, PA-18 tail and gear, VG's, flaps and O-320B2B. I've not yet added extended baggage, but will try to do that next year, along with a defroster (involves pulling the windshield). But this spring I've installed my retractable skis (rigged and tested on the ground), battery and ELT re-located under the front seat, heated seats installed and tested :-P, and another heat muff installed. Not sure if I will fly in wheel/skis this season as the snow is going fast and I still have some work to do. June will be devoted to repairing my old floats to get through one more season. I'm saving for a set of 2200 Clamar floats for next year.

Scooter: Most of the big lakes are safe for landing and should still be good for another couple of weeks. The sea ice will be good well into June.

Got my tailwheel training completed at the end of March. Maybe I'll get a chance to take out a few runway lights in the next couple of weeks!
