Fyi catto props

stoddard

FOUNDER
Anchorage, Alaska
Now that it has been beaten to death, let me tell you the latest on approval. Sara Catto was in our place Wednesday the 7th of March. She just had a 2 1/2 day meeting with the FAA here in Anchorage. She mentioned she had to run a 50 hour test of the props on the engine. And also run a noise test in order to get approval. Also needed to get the building, tools, and process certified for the final approval. Just mentioning this so that everyone interested will know that Cato is doing everything they can to get certification, and its not them that are dragging their feet. Bill at Stoddards

Glenn, your more they likely very right about that, but there have been so many list through threw so meny YEARS, every year, now one at Staddards 2017 and 18) at the Catto tables at the airmen shows. You can rest assured all other years mean NOTHING. As you can bet your bottom doller there safely the the trash can though the years. the only one now that will count will be the one at Staddards. THUS proving my point of what a waist of time all prior list where, and what a sick joke played on all us that believing the many years of waiting list meant something. (To include me, sadly) Scott

Is English your first language?

The years of signing up for there cert was a wait of time, to many list, for to many year, never any good info, to include set backs and delays. Just more lists, and you can bet they meant nothing from day one. If not, where are all the lists from years ago, how will they honer them? Not to going happen. It was all a sick joke..or just a bad idea of asking to start a sign up list for certified prop....there good folks, ill know this, just a bad idea from the get go....scott

Scott, chill for a bit. It's all good but the stars don't always line up as they should. Half the fun is nogotioating the bolders that you missed on the first pass. It's all good.

My cub is experimental so this doesn’t matter in my case. I sure love my Catto prop on my cub...I only wish I could try a few props to compare. Currently run a 84”x37”. 0-320 with 10:1’s.

Oliver, it was never a negative attitude when you point out the truth, with the obvious. Now, was I a bit over the top using "the absurd, to point out the absurd" Absolutely....it,s only a negative thing if you never understood the question at hand......im not try not beating a dead horse here.....reflect to what transpired, stick the the question at hand.....nothing negative about it, just qwestion seeking an answer..... J5Ron, your sir have the winning combo from what i have seen, the 0320, 10 to 1, and a 84-37. Very popular up here in AK....Scott

I have been told it’s the perfect combo...but don’t feel I, getting it all...would like to see a 84x35, 82-42 and also try a borer in 82-41 or82-42. I am in Alaska Scott....

Ron, i have used a bore 82-43 for years, I was happy with it, then used an 84-37, very happy with it.....are you using the Atlee hot rod and Bendix mags...makes all the difference in the world. Scott

I have Bendix Mags built by Alaska Aircraft Engines and Sutton Exhauset.

Lycon 160, sea level, 1100 lbs
82/39. Cruise 97 mph 2450, static 2375, wot 2800
climb 1400 fpm at 60 indicated.
Was running 82/43 borer for comparison.
Can’t speak highly enough about folks at Catto.
First prop was over pitched (my fault), returned it, slightly used.
Cato gladly took it back in exchange for another new prop at no charge.
Did this twice! Before settling on current prop.
Great product, great costumer service.

oh, and the have a new list, they call it their “**** list”
so far only one name on it...

So, what you running now? ...I thought you where the anti negative guy? Using your train of thought, beating up the messenger is a good thing, and leaving your keys in the car is ok to rip it off....nothing but good for the Catto folks here....mr. negative ....

Oliver, no trolling here, i was always just a guy seeking a simple answer to a simple qwestion, if that makes me a troll? And the bad guy? And a target to your snipes...I have thick skin....as far as your **** list poke at me. There where so many lists for so many years, it was getting ridiculous! I feel good about my chances being on the **** list, as their past track record about so many list, that meant absolutely nothing! I'm feeling pretty safe about it....Now that's the ironic part....Scott

PA22/20, yes I'm running a Catto, and very happy with it, my 77 SC is a cert plane and ill be looking to add a cert prop when they come out. I have had nothing but great things to say about the Catto gang, I have bought 3 so far from them. It was never about misleading any one. It was about why start a list every year, year after year, and for what reason? Where they gunna save the list and honor 4,5,6 years prior? I simply ask why, folkes signing up year after seemed a crule joke. I ask why, and im now the bad guy....I'm sure it was a good idea back in the day to see If interest in going to the cert process, that first, delays (for what ever reasons) did not make it any better. Then many more sign up lists turned it into a process that was clearly unnecessary. And then add in unknown and inaccurate information, updates not being put out from Catto and the outlets. Bottom line, the information process of the product being pursued was awfully. Make Catto bad company, he'll no, make me a bad guy for pointing it out. Seems so....thanks for you asking. Constructive Conversation is and should always be welcome.....Scott

Scott, I wasn’t kidding when I suggested putting a Catto on your certified cub. Again, if you’re remote operating privately, who would know and why would they care? If you decide to sell the plane, switch back. You have no problem with your other Catto props, you know the product is good. The props golden with or without paperwork. If your reason is to operate completely legal, I respect that. Trouble is I think there are cases where some certified stuff is lagging the experimental stuff is more advanced and it’s a shame it takes so long for certified stuff to catch up.
