Flexible oil line with safety wire

Hello,

I had the B&C spin on oil filter adapter installed which requires a new flexible oil line.

The oil line was built with safety wire instead of the standard clamps. Is this ok? Does not look nearly as strong as the steel collars.

Looks to me like the wire is just supporting the fire sleeve over the oil line. If that is the case, it should be fine.

These work well:

Band-It JS2539 - 1/4" wide by about .020" thick. There's a tool for installing them, but you can do it reasonably well with some duck-billed pliers for these small versions. Pull them tight and then bend them back over the opposite direction and squeeze. Hydraulic hose shops should have these. I've seen red high-temp RTV applied to the ends of the sleeves to keep them from unravelling.

Fire sleeve isn’t bad idea but it isn’t required. You’re way ahead of the game with what you have. It isn’t going anywhere.
