I went to Surgut on Google Maps and found this picture. I wonder if this could be the new home of the DC-3? Definitely an airport. Looks like lots of oil and gas wells in the area.

There's gotta be photos of it pushed off the shore. Weight is almost centered _if_ it still has an engine, which based on it's attitude I'd tend to think it does.

It's a Carolina Skiff, which is full foam filled... flat bottom... never know, might have done just fine.

A few years ago the FAA had a major outage near Chicago and no one could fly over Lake Michigan or Ontario enroute to the Northeast. I flew commercial from Colorado back east and there was an aerial freeway as we merged with the traffic coming 'round the corner south of Chicago. For once I stayed awake.
