Since all of the flap work on the fuelage is done and I am still thinking about the gear. I have all of the pulleys ordered to do the 18 elevator change to my 12 so I can have the extended baggage. While I am waiting on the paperwork from Ron Sullivan to get here is there anything any of you who already have this suggest I do or change before I start on it.

field approval deviation to STC for what i am about to suggest....

you can put front elev cable below floor by making a bigger front pulley mount and using bigger pulley there... pics in my gallery then move center stringer over an inch to side.....

thanks Mike I didn`t really like the pulley sticking up through the floor there anyway so if there is w way to get rid of it I am all for it.

You might consider a pod instead of a huge extended baggage. The biggest draw of a pod (for me) is that you can put the weight closer to the CG.

Are you doing the flat floor?

My biggest mistake with my flat floor and very large baggage area was forgetting to add hard points for installing cargo tie-downs. MCS Mike did a pretty nice job of adding a few rings but I should have had structural tabs in place for more tie-down options. Honestly if I did it again I'd add some floor tracks for Ancra snap-in tie down rings like Atlee sells for Cessnas. With my flat aluminum floor there's nothing to prevent anything back there from shifting around unless you secure it properly. Unless you make it easy you won't do it. Or so it goes for me. I need to get Atlee's to make me up a cargo net to fit my baggage area but now with the pod It's easier to load shifty items there rather than climbing in and leaning over the back seat. Reaching all the way aft in my lower baggage requires a stick.

Another thing I'd recommend IF you can get it approved is to make the rear seat bars removable. All three of mine are but it was a hard sell to get FSDO to sign it off. Ken Rivard has an STC for the top bar to be removable and that would be good enough 90% of the time. I sent my Rivard stuff to Gordon/12 Geezer so if you're interested he's a good initial contact.

Thanks Stewart yes I am doing the flat floor and using the bigger front pulley like Mike suggested. I am making a small upper compartment and the bigger lower one. I will have an outside door to both compartments and I can get started on the door frames as soon as I get the 18 control system in. I cut out the bellcrank mounts last night and cleaned everything up to weld in the dog leg diagonal as soon as I get the drawings from Ron Sullivan. Thanks for the tie down suggestion I will be sure to add some in the bottom compartment. I have access to some 1/16 and 3/32 carbon fiber laminated sheet so I am going to use carbon fiber for the floor in the top and wood in the bottom. I think I am going with Kydex for the sides of the compartment I just got a big box of stuff from them today so it will be here when I get ready. Lynne has a big roll of 1 inch nylon strap material and she is going to sew up 2 nets that will snap in to protect the back seat passenger. I would love to get a copy of the seat bar stc just to see what it looks like and it would make getting mine approved a whole lot easier

Any ideas what to use for light weight rubber matting for a extended baggage floor, or other ideas?

Mike,

To keep things from sliding around, I was thinking about tool box liners. These are the liners that come in drawers of tool boxes and also the liners that are used in between a top box and a bottom box. I've seen this at Harbor Freight.
