Europe to US move for Supercub

Hi all,

I am in a situation where I need to move from Europe to the US and I want to ship my Supercub. The plane is a US registration plane. I have seen the posts about how to pack up the plane and those are nice. What I need help with is finding out how to manage the shipment, customs clearance, finding and booking a container shipment, etc. Does anyone have experience with this that could give me some places to start? Obviously I have never shipped a container so I don’t know about buying/leasing containers, best destination ports, etc.

Aflyer is right. There are brokers in every country. In fact in Europe its a huge business. Look for "Customer Brokers" in the town of the port FROM which you expect to ship. Expect to pay for the service, but don't feel bad. You have no idea the level, depth and quantity of tasks and paperwork that they handle. Ordinarily they should be able to drive the entire shipment, but I used to hear of some that were "port only." I don't think there's any of those left though. A good broker will make your life easy.

If you are military check on base, there used to be folks to help with stuff like this when folks relocated stateside. Sure they usually deal with cars and such, but they might be willing to help.
