Dynon Skyview Panel - Finally Finished!!

I realized in the last couple days that I never posted the final product of my panel upgrade/super cub restoration! If any of you were at Oshkosh this year and happened to pass by the Dynon displays then you might have seen her!

Last august (very shortly after EAA Airventure 2023) I purchased this 1985 experimental super cub from another lady cub lover at a local airport - but unfortunately she needed A LOT of tlc.

well almost a whole year later, I was able to tie up loose ends and (mostly) finish the project... literally a day before it had to leave. If any of you follow me on social media, then you know I worked tirelessly - every sec/min that I could - on this project. sooo many early mornings, late nights, and everything in between while also being a wife, mother, & nurse (my real job ☺️).

I definitely had a lot of advice, direction, & help… but I’m pretty proud to say that I literally had my hands in every part of it. I gained an incredible amount of knowledge doing the work myself rather than sending it off for someone else to do - although, some days that reallyyy sounded quite nice LOL.

The avionics upgrades included:
  • Dynon 10" Skyview HDX with auto pilot
  • Dynon 2-place stereo intercom
  • Dynon T-25 remote radio paired with com panel
  • All avionics integrated with Advanced Flight Systems
    Advanced Control Module (ACM)
Other upgrades:
  • Acme Aero 3" extended landing gear
  • Acme Aero Pro-Series shocks
  • 31" Alaskan Bushwheels with ABI 3200 baby bushwheel
  • Alaska Gear Company aluminum struts
  • Beringer 6" wheels and brakes
  • Micro Aerodynamics VG's
  • MonkWorkz 30 amp generator (2.6 lbs)
  • Sensenich ground adjustable composite propeller
  • CiES fuel senders
  • All exterior lighting upgraded to a full
    AeroLEDS package including:
    • (2) equinox dual-function landing/taxi lights
    • Pulsar NSP wingtip lights
    • SunTail strobe & position taillight

I figured I would show were we started from - she sat untouched for about 6-7 years. These pics were from the day I took ownership

My wife and I walked past your Cub at Oshkosh this year, and my wife backflipped when she saw it (she's an Emergency Dept. nurse in Australia) and is helping me build our experimental cub and will learn to fly in it too. Great work on the build! I just finished putting our panel together, yet as we only have a hobby sized laser - I've used it to cut our instrument placards, it wont cut alloy so it was hand cutting and filing for HOURS :(

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to see your panel finished! So far the Dynon has been incredibly nice in the cub!

Nice! Looks great!! I turned on my new Dynon panel for the first time a few days ago in my garage - very happy that no smoke came out of any wires and after the firmware updates and configurations everything seems to be working.

Looks great! Dynon or Advance are the two finalists on my list if I ever get around to going glass.

How are you liking the Beringer wheels/brakes?
