Cutting Access Panel

Cardiff Kook

PATRON
Sisters, OR
Looks like when they recovered my cub they put an access panel backing in but didnt cut the fabric after covering.

Of course- now i am having an issue with the power supply under the panel.

Can it be cut out? Guess my paint scheme wont look as nice.

Got a bunch not cut on my plane. Personally I leave a 16th inch fabric inside the ring. I also had to paint some inspection panels after the fact which sucks.

On a Cub you really shouldn't have to cut them all open. But when spraying, always spray extra plates, just in case.

If it's covered with synthetic fabric, melt it open with a soldering gun. That was it'll seal the edge and offer a bit more strength. Then build a cover for the hole and attach with PK screws. Paint to match.

What the others have said. Cut on the inside of the square cover support/Make a square cover/don't go crazy with extra large or lots of screws/paint to match. The plane really won't care what color it is so don't why about it being perfect if you have some good weather days to fly in. Making stuff look pretty is a good good winter project. DENNY

Keep the cutout to use for color matching. Any automotive paint supplier should be able to closely match color and sheen. Keep the paint for future covers and other metal parts.

Like these. I have a bunch of spares already painted.
