Hey Guys,
I am not a big poster but have been thinking about this for sometime and thought it was worth posting. I am relatively new to flying (4 years) but am getting about 400 hours a year between my 185 and cub. Paul Claus helped me get started and has been a great mentor and wealth of information. All my time is Alaska off airport time and I have been blessed to have great teachers like Paul and many other high time bush pilots. I was having a conversation with Paul about Loni and asked him if he thought I would learn from his course? He said absolutely! So I emailed Loni and booked his course for late summer, in the mean time another cub pilot friend of mine came back from the course and the difference in his flying was night and day so I was even more excited to go. I met Loni for his four day Alaska course and we hit it off great! Some people can teach and others can fly and Loni can do both! I really use my cub hard so we weren't doing things that I normally don't do but Loni took the guess work out and showed me how to evaluate what I was doing making off airport flying much safer! I got a ton out of just sitting around the kitchen table asking him questions that I had been saving up, I also took pages of notes which I regularly review to keep myself sharp.
We see a lot of posts on this site about what mods should I make to my plane to improve its performance, I don't care if you fly a 1400 lb cub if you take Loni's course it will be the best investment you can make in your airplane or flying career period! You will be a safer smarter pilot that will be able to do much more with your airplane.
Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving!
Hank
